This grand display of marvelous red marbles was believed to be the home of an enchanted woman, Maria Tang-an. Folks living around Marmol and the neighboring barangay of Alegria believed that when Maria Tang-an's ferry set on a voyage, this river is flooded in order to accomodate the vessel believed to be filled with treasures. The flood, they would say, comes despite fair weather and even as the sun shines its brightest.
Stories of brave men trying to enter the enchanted cave never to return had been passed on from generation to generation.
